The Best of the Dolomites in One Day

Only got one day for the Dolomites? This is the tour that fits the most in.

The Western and Eastern Dolomites, Back to Back

For guests with just a single day to spare, this tour drives the entire length of the historic Great Dolomites Road from Bolzano to Cortina d'Ampezzo and then loops back through the eastern valleys — around 300 kilometres in total, over roughly 10 hours. It's the most complete introduction to the Dolomites we offer, combining the western passes and lakes with the eastern peaks and Cortina in one long, unforgettable day.

Because it runs the same historic road, the trip crosses UNESCO World Heritage terrain the entire way, and includes an optional cable car ride up to Sass Pordoi for those who want the highest possible viewpoint of the day.

Route Highlights

  • Bolzano & the Ega Valley. Departure from Bolzano along the historic Ega Valley road, opened in 1894.
  • Lake Carezza & the Costalunga Pass. A stop at Lake Carezza and the 1893 Grand Hotel Carezza, once host to Empress Sissi, Winston Churchill and Agatha Christie.
  • Fassa Valley & the Sella Group. Through Vigo di Fassa and Canazei, beneath the Sella massif.
  • 27 Hairpins to the Pordoi Pass. Climbing to 2,239 m (7,350 ft), with an optional cable car up to Sass Pordoi at 2,950 m.
  • Arabba & the Falzarego Pass. The link between the western and eastern halves of the range.
  • Cortina d'Ampezzo. The "Pearl of the Dolomites", host of the 1956 Winter Olympics and co-host, with Milan, of the 2026 Winter Games.
  • Misurina, Dobbiaco & Braies Lakes. Three of the most photographed lakes in the Alps, seen in a single afternoon.
  • Return via the Pusteria & Isarco Valleys back to Bolzano.
