On the border toward the eastern
part of Tyrol with its capital Lienz, the slopes sparkle
in all their glory already from afar, enticing visitors to
the ski area of Mt. Elmo
located between San Candido, Versciago
and Sesto/Pusteria, and all connected by long and rather
demanding downhill runs.
The panorama from Mt. Elmo extends over a Dolomite landscape
that is somewhat different from the usual scenic backdrop
of the eastern Dolomites. In fact, the view focuses mainly
on the Three Peaks of Lavaredo, undoubtedly the world’s most
famous Dolomite mountains.
Characteristic huts located on the edge of the slopes welcome
exhausted skiers, refreshing them with traditional Pusteria
food and drink.
From Sesto it’s also possible to go on excursions in sleds
drawn by Haflinger horses leading to Val Fiscalina,
one of
the most characteristic areas of the Alpine arc.
The area of the Three Peaks of Lavardeo has various features
that will strengthen the physique and, above all, satisfy
the eye of the beholder who appreciates all the wonders of
these beautiful mountains.
