One of the four Ladin valleys
in the Dolomites, Val Gardena is also famous for the wood
carvings that its inhabitants have made for centuries and
sell around the world.
With this in mind the Gardena ski
tour helps us to relive all the emotions of the past, starting
from one of the valley’s skiing areas: Selva/Gardena, Santa
Cristina or Ortisei.
In addition to ultra modern lift systems and unique tunnel
connections, the area also has slopes where world-level skiing
competitions have been and continue to be held: the “Saslong”
of the 1970 world championship, a downhill run won by the
Swiss champion Bernhard Russi, the “Dantercepies” women’s
downhill, the “Ciampinoi” of the world giant slalom won at
that time by the great Austrian champion
Karl Schranz and
last, but not least, the “Gardenissima” slope on the Seceda
that thanks to a nine-kilometre piste, is one of the world’s
longest runs.
It is on these slopes, which wrote unforgettable pages in
the history of skiing, where we can trace the route as well
as the memory of the great champions who competed there,
fully enjoying totally unique thrills and experiences.
